Loading and firing student work in the ceramic kilns

Student tiles are being loaded, ready for firing and installing as a collaborative mural in January.

Gas kiln is being fired a bit early so that students are able to give their ceramic pieces as Christmas gifts-there has been a lot of wrapping of gifts before and after school before break!

Photo 2: OASD technology photo project

During the Spring semester in 2013, Photo 2 students were invited to take photos of our OASD students using technology.  Students took photos at North High, Jefferson Elementary and Merrill Elementary/Middle and Alps.  These photos are now on display at the OASD Central Administration office in the Technology department as well as on the digital feed in the main lobby.  Congratulations to our published photographers: Mai Kao Yang and Vanessa Coey!

Photo 1 students shooting their first film assignment

Students are using fully manual 35mm film cameras-they need to adjust exposure and effects through shutter speed and aperture as well as how to use a focus prism.

Each group works with lamps and backdrops to develop a variety of lighting effects on their paper cut outs such as shadows and rim lighting.

Students will be processing their own film and creating prints in the darkroom using an enlarger to expose the image onto paper and make them permanent through the use of paper developer and fixer.
